all successful companies need to be a little crazy
Asja has adopted a certified integrated Quality, Environmental and Management System (“the System’) applying to all branches, offices and production facilities to ensure that its corporate policy is implemented and set objectives are achieved. Indeed, our Quality, Environmental and Safety policy mirrors the Management’s intention to confirm the commitment taken on in these three areas, going beyond mere compliance with legal requirements to pursue excellence in corporate procedures and ever-growing respect for and protection of the Environment and workers. Hence, the System provides added value that is expressed in improved company performance, reduced environmental impact, and ever increasing protection of the health and safety of in-house or contractors’ employees.
Each area of the system is put in relation to a specific voluntary standard. System compliance to the standard of reference is checked every year by an independent, accredited third party verifier which issues the relevant certificate only if audits are successfully passed.

Quality – Meeting Clients Requirements
The Quality Management System has been in place since 2000 and is based on the requirements of the ISO 9001 standard, whereby focus is placed on ongoing improvement and on meeting Clients’ requirements, including clients belonging to the organization itself. A Certified Quality System therefore creates visibility for consistent company performance and provides a guarantee of its effectiveness.
Environment – Developing Sustainably and Preventing Pollution
Asja developed its ISO 14001- compliant Environmental Management System in 2002, which has been certified ever since. The many accomplishments relating thereto include Asja’s ability to implement a management system that could stand the test of time, based on correctness and on awareness of all environmental aspects its activities or the interaction with clients, suppliers or the local community would involve.
Environmental management is also carried out by means of standardized monitoring processes ensuring full compliance with environmental standards, which was also a prerequisite to the implementation of the System. Moreover, a set of “environmental indicators” was devised to keep environmental performance under control thus reaffirming the company’s awareness and its proactive approach towards the ongoing improvement of environmental management.
In 2003, Asja chose to adhere on a voluntary basis to EC Regulation n. 761/2001 EMAS (Eco Management and Audit Scheme) governing environmental management and related audits, thus adding such prestigious certificate to those obtained following the implementation of ISO 14001 standards.
With this decision, Asja further strengthened dialogue with its stakeholders, providing visibility and transparency for data and information concerning the company’s environmental performance. Data are collected and shaped into a document called “Environmental Declaration”; their conformity with truth is certified by an accredited verifier and further validated by the ISPRA EMAS Committee.
Safety – Safeguarding Workers’ Health
The increased company awareness of how important it is to provide workers with a safe and healthy workplace and to protect their health became tangible in 2006 with the achievement by the company of the BS OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health & Safety Assessment Series) -related certification for its Health and Safety Management System. The System provides added value in that it guarantees proper attention to workers, thus going beyond simple conformity with legal requirements by leading to considerable improvements in communication and fostering the achievement of a fully-fledged Safety Culture. Workers’s involvement has been both the starting and the endpoint of all activities planned in the training and information sharing areas.
