>> Shenyang, the new frontier for renewable energy.

The 29th of April 2008, the Olympic year, saw the inauguration of the plant for landfill gas captation and utilization as energy source designed and built by Asja on the municipal landfill site of Shenyang, a city with over 7 million inhabitants located in northeastern China.

“Green” energy is currently produced there by means of 3 high-power motors which, starting straight in the second half of 2008, will enable the plant to meet the energy demands of over 6000 family unit equivalents. Plans to expand landfill capacity, currently amounting to 1700 tons of waste disposed every day, include the installation of 5 more motors, producing at full capacity over 30.000 MWh per year, thus being able to supply energy to about 50,000 people!
Through landfill gas distribution and with no use of fossil fuels to operate the plant’s generator sets, Asja will ensure under this project the achievement of a yearly emission reduction of 200,000 tons of CO2. Under the Kyoto protocol, such a reduction will result in the same number of CER (certified emission reduction) certificates being issued in favour of Asja.

>> Asja and Art@mia jointly celebrate albanian culture.

Thursday, January 24, 2008.

A night full of music and excitement marked the society debut of Art@mia, a newborn cultural association of Turin that aims at providing support to artists of Albanian origin living and working on the territory. The presentation night, sponsored by Asja, was held in the wonderful setting of the Auditorium of the Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, a key contemporary art venue in Italy. The event boasted the presence of distinguished authorities such as the Albanian Consul General in Milan, Mr. Spartak Topollaj, Mr. Petrit Vargu, Municipal Counsellor in Tirana, Mr. Beppe Castronovo, head of Turin Municipal Council, in addition to Chairmen and representatives of other local Albanian associations.

After a brief introduction by Gjergji Xhaxho, one of Art@mia’s founders, Guy Teuwissen’s salutations on behalf of Asja provided an opportunity to spread information about the company’s numerous projects being developed in Albania thanks to Asja’s newly established Tirana headquarters. Albanian artists Markelian Kapedani and Sokol Prekalori kept the audience spellbound with their violin/piano duet, where classics, contemporary compositions and Albanian folk music took turns. The magnificent voice of soprano Inva Mula, the night’s guest of honour currently on stage in Turin at the Teatro Regio in Verdi’s Rigoletto, was the perfect ending to the event.

>> New plant to treat leachate material on the CEAMSE-Norte III Environmental Complex

September 24th , 2007.
Construction works on the first Argentinian plant for the treatment of leachate material in the Norte III-CEAMSE Environmental Complex of  Buenos Aires  have finished. The plant has been built and will be managed by Aria.biz, Asja’s Argentinian subsidiary. The plant is designed to treat 150 m3  of material per day, with future expansion targeted to reach 400 m3 per day. On the same Environmental Complex, Aria.biz has also built and currently manages a plant for biogas capitation and energetic use aimed at reducing greenhouse gases under the Kyoto Protocol.

>> Asja.biz to Sardinia 2007

As usual, Asja really couldn’t miss the appointment with the Energy-From-Waste operators’ biennial meeting in Santa Margherita di Pula (Cagliari), surrounded by Forte Village Resort’s wonderful landscape. From the 1st to the 5th October, the meeting program foresees conferences and roundtables whose core issues will no doubt be waste and optimum waste management. That’s the context in which Asja’s little stand will host its guests, while providing symposium attendees with all possible information on its decennial activities in the field of enhancement of biogas as a source of energy and future developments.

>> Chinese projects become true.

July 23rd, 2007
Work in progress in Shenyang and Kunming for the landfill gas capture and power utilization projects. Thanks to these two plants, from 2008, 23,000 MWh of green energy will be produced every year, covering the needs of 10,000 families.

Once operating, these plants will bring benefits to the Chinese atmosphere avoiding the release of 160,000 tons of CO2 per year.

>> Asja.biz and the La Guardia Foundation together in Brazil in a joint sustainable development project.

May 11th, 2007
The Asja.biz Group, has launched a strategic cooperation agreement with LaGuardia Foundation, a non-profit organization based in New York which specializes in implementing actions targeting sustainable development in China, Brazil and India.

Asja.biz is thus strengthening its ethical approach to business tanks to the Clean Planet system ( www.asjacleanplanet.biz/eng ), reinvesting into ethics-based activities the revenue generated by CO2 sales on the voluntary market. Credits are generated from greenhouse gas-reducing plants built by Asja.biz.

This cooperation stems from common principles and common strategic interests; its first objective is the strengthening of a project launched in 2005 by the LaGuardia Foundation, targeting the development of a castor oil supply chain in Nordeste, a semi-arid Brazilian area affected by endemic poverty. Asja Market has thus decided to allocate 35.000 Euros to the LaGuardia Foundation to support the development of an agro-energy supply chain based on consortia of local small farmers.
