Asja has recently put into operation a new landfill plant that will contribute to the reduction of the emissions generated by the landfill municipal waste of the city of Uberlândia-MG, Brazil.
The plant , operated by Energas Geração de Energia Ltda, a sister company of Asja Brasil, is the second biggest plant of the State of Minas Gerais, and it has been designed in collaboration with Limpebras, the company that manages the city’s landfill. This landfill, closed in 2011, used to receive around 600 tons of waste a day, coming from more than 600,000 inhabitants, for a total of 2.1 tons millions in 20 years.
The plant, opened last June, 15 and supplies the Companhia Energética de Minas Gerais (Cemig) with 1.4 MWh of clean electric energy. It is already forecast the installation of two more generators, the first of which will be in operation from October 2012. The plant is also currently under validation as CDM Project by the United Nations, since it fulfill the Kyoto Protocols requirements.
Some data:
400.000 m2 landfill area
90.000.000 kWh green energy production within 4 years
710.000.000 ton carbon dioxin (CO2) avoided
18.980.806 oil barrel saved
15.000 family enjoying green energy every year

Asja Ambiente Italia has commissioned a new windfarm in Laterza (Taranto). With its 10 MW installed capacity, the plant will produce, at full capacity, more than 21 million Kwh per year, enough to meet the energy demand of around 15,000 people. The “clean” energy generated by its 5 2 MW turbines will prevent 10,000 tons of CO2 from being emitted every year, thus saving almost 38,000 tons of oil equivalent (TOE). 20 companies, most of which local, were involved in the plant implementation, with an average staff of 20 at work every day. The windfarm reached completion in slightly less than 6 months.
Asja Ambiente Italia’s CEO Alessandro Casale commented as follows:” I am satisfied to see this project has reached completion. This is our seventh windfarm, whose renewable energy capacity adds up to the over 140 MW already installed and fully operational in Italy. I think having reached this goal testifies to how our perseverance can still make a difference, especially in the renewable sector that is inherently and constantly uncertain and unstable”.
