Biogas

Asja is Italy’s leading operator and a major international player in the field of power generation from biogas produced at urban solid waste landfills.

From 1995 to date Asja has designed and built 31 biogas-to-energy plants in 12 different Italian regions, 22 of which are also currently managed directly by the company.

Asja is present in a number of foreign countries, namely China, Argentina, Brazil and Albania, where it builds plants for biogas capture and utilization as a source of energy  in the framework of greenhouse gas emission reduction projects implemented under the Kyoto Protocol  Flexible Mechanisms.

In 2009, Asja generated an overall 211.000 MWh, corresponding to the yearly energy needs of 84.400 households.

Thanks to the solid experience it has acquired by designing, building and managing biogas capture and biogas-to-energy plants, Asja is the ideal partner to provide support to landfill managers through synergy and cooperation.

Asja adopts cutting edge technology for the construction of extremely efficient, reliable power plants; it can  guarantee an average  yearly biogas capture coefficient of 85%. The plant gen sets have an extremely high capacity factor which means they work for 8.100 hours each year (out of a total of 8760).

Asja boasts highly specialized teams of technicians who can directly carry out scheduled and extraordinary maintenance operations and repairs in the event of a sudden failure, providing assistance 24/7.
An innovative remote-monitoring system enable the technical staff at each branch to remotely check plant operation daily so as to ensure optimal plant performance.

Asja possesses all the skills it needs in-house, thus enjoying full autonomy in the implementation of all project development phases:

  • plant design/construction
  • licence/permits issuance process
  • plant operation and maintenance
  • energy sale
  • Green Certificates Trading
  • partecipation in public tenders

Partnering with Asja means guaranteeing maximum production performance and maximum economic yield. Asja is fully committed to drawing up ad-hoc proposals, based either on the acquisition of shares for plant building and management, or on grant agreements in exchange for royalties on profits from energy sale and Green Certificates trading.
